It is very important to know some aspects of your poop, despite it is uncomfortable to talk about it. Defecation is essential function of the body so it can tell a lot about your health.

It may be a consequence of changes in your diet when there is a change in the bowel movements. However, it can also be a sign of serious condition or disease or sign that your body is fighting against an infection.

The stool is consisted of mucus, different cells, living and dead bacteria, fiber and 75% water.

A normal poop is often soft and smooth, whole and elongated. It should be S-shaped and uniform. The healthy poop has medium to light brown color and its shape comes from the lower intestine.

Types of Poops and Their Meaning

Yellow-colored poop often indicates that you have problems with your gallbladder.

White or pale brown stool may be a sign of pancreatic disease of hepatitis.

Bright red or black stool usually indicates bleeding in the GIT.

Diarrhea stool indicates that your body suffers from some condition or disease.

Fluffy poop torn and ragged edges is a symptom of stress or high blood pressure.

Soft blobs with defined edges are common for people defecate more than once on a daily basis after major meals.

Soft, smooth and sausage shaped poop is absolutely normal and it is common for people who defecate once per day.

Sausage shaped with lumps often causes bleeding because it is difficult to pass. It is common for people who suffer from irritable bowel syndrome and diameter is between 3-5 cm.

 Small and hard lumpy poop often indicates that you have inflammation on the small intestine. It is solid, small and abrasive with a diameter of 1-2 cm. This poop usually causes anal bleeding and may occur in people who have been taking antibiotics.

Unpleasant smell of the poop could indicate:

  • Cystic fibrosis
  • Pancreatitis
