Instead of heading to the pharmacy to take an over-the-counter sleep med that may be harmful to your health, try this simple, homemade sleep remedy.
By making this concoction and taking it right before sleep, it helps to sustain the body, even through spikes of cortisol (the stress hormone), and insulin (which makes you hungry and want to get up for that midnight snack.) This means you can fall asleep and stay asleep more easily.
Ingredients:
6 oz milk
1 drop vanilla extract
1 tsp honey
Preparation and Usage:
Pour the milk in a small saucepan and put it on heat. Wait until it’s warm, but not boiling.
Remove it from heat and pour it into glass. Add the vanilla and the honey. Stir well and drink it slowly before you get to sleep.
Notes:
For people who are lactose intolerant, follow the same recipe, but replace the milk with a lactose free substitute, just like soy, rice or almond milk.
