A man and woman were arrested and accused of child abuse after the man allegedly stuck his finger down a baby’s throat and caused the baby to be hospitalized for severe trauma.
The 5-month-old baby’s parents, Ricardo Salas and Celeste Marroquin, were both charged after the incident, which reportedly took place at a home in Greenville, South Carolina. Salas was inside the home despite an order to avoid contact with the child.
At one point during the day in question, the baby began to cry. It was then Salas put his finger down the baby’s throat for a significant period of time, WSPA reported.
Salas and Marroquin allegedly attempted to cover up the incident and did not seek medical attention for several days. The baby was finally brought to a hospital and subsequently underwent surgery. The child was put on a ventilator and was expected to recover fully.
According to the sheriff’s office, Salas, 23, was charged with child abuse and unlawful neglect of a child. Marroquin, 20, was charged with two counts of unlawful neglect of a child.
Many readers expressed horror at the crime and called for the couple to be punished to the fullest extent of the law.
“Do to these two scum bags what they did to the baby, only instead of a finger make it a broomstick,” one America In Danger reader commented on the site’s Facebook page. “What the heck is wrong with the egg donor, can’t call her a mother, that let this piece of trash sperm donor around the baby especially with a order of protection to keep him away from the baby. Both of them should be locked up for at least 20 years each, and sterilized so they never reproduce again. I hope they get a little jail hose justice for the harm they did to that baby.”
“The cops should shove their night stick down his throat,” another wrote. “What in the hell is wrong with people. If you don’t want your damn kids don’t breed!!!!! Kids don’t ask to be brought into the world. These animals should get the death penalty for abusing an innocent child.”
“It is time for a little inmate justice,” another added. “They will make sure these two suffer like this poor little baby.”
“Sick pos,” commented another reader. “How can anyone do this to a child? They both need to go to jail. And stay in there for a very long time.”
