Doctors Advise Randy Travis’ Wife To Pull The Plug, She Takes Matters Into Her Own Hands

They told her there wasn't much hope, but she chose to make a very firm decision . . .

We all know Randy Travis for his amazing country music. But over the past few years, Randy has been struggling to return to the man he once was.

Randy suffered from severe cardiomyopathy that left him in a coma, confined to a hospital bed and struggling to stay alive. Every day his condition got worse and worse. For doctors, the end result was his passing and they urged Randy’s wife to pull the plug.

Her reaction had them all shaking their heads…

In an emotional interview with WFAA News, Mary Davis Travis explained that Randy’s condition was constantly changing. One second he was showing signs of life, the next he was crashing.

“Life was minute to minute. They said ‘pull the plug, there’s no hope.”
Instead of listening to the doctors’ recommendations, Mary decided that she was going to give Randy the time he needed to recuperate.

She told USA Today that any chance of him making it out of a coma was enough for her to hold onto hope.

“At this point, the one to two-percent chance is [a] 100-percent chance over zero. I prayed hard, ‘God, please let me have him back, any way, shape or form.'”
As she prayed, Randy began to come back to her. Little by little, he improved and finally regained enough strength to wake from his coma. However, the challenges were far from over…

Randy’s stroke left him without the ability to walk, talk, and complete day-to-day tasks that were once a breeze. Thankfully, Mary and the rest of Randy’s family was right by his side during the four grueling years of rehabilitation.

Even though Randy still has a hard time speaking, music is something that never left his soul. Now he’s relearning his musical style and working to play the guitar.

Only time will tell if Randy will ever return to the level of musical talent he once achieved, but Mary told USA Today that they’re thankfully for every milestone he crosses.

“I think our goal for five years is to remain hopeful and keep our heads up high and not throw in the towel and be happy with wherever God has us. If it’s back up on that stage singing, hallelujah.”
We wish Randy nothing but the best in the years to come. With God by his side, it’s clear anything is possible!
