Coconut water kefir is abundant in minerals, vitamins, and electrolytes. It is also high in folates, vitamins K, C, E, A, B6, beta-carotene, Niacin, Riboflavin, Thiamin, and pantothenic acid.
It is an extremely healthy probiotic drink, even healthier than regular kefir as it does not have lactose or casein and lactose, which are the problematic ingredients in the regular dairy products.
Therefore, they are able to improve the absorption of nutrients and thus significantly improve the function of the digestive system.
These are the health benefits of this remarkable drink:
- Improves hydration
- Extremely high in dietary minerals like potassium, natural sodium, chloride
Helps digestion - Alleviates PMS symptoms
- Boosts the immune system
- Improves vision
Raises energy levels - Kills pathogenic yeasts in the body
- Eliminates sugar cravings
The coconut water kefir can be prepared in three different ways: by using kefir grains, using existing kefir as a starter, or a kefir starter culture. However, the most inexpensive way is to use kefir grains (either water or milk kefir grains).
Ingredients:
- 5 tablespoons of water kefir grains
- 7 cups fresh of coconut water
- 1 Ceylon cinnamon stick
Method of preparation:
Pour the coconut water into a 1/2 gallon jar, add the water kefir grains, and cover the jar loosely. Leave it for 48 hours, but no longer than that, as longer fermentation can cause an explosion.
When it is fermented, it gets a lighter color and when the culturing process ends, the kefir grains will rise up to the top. Then, you need to remove the grains, and they can be re-used again if you immediately want to make another batch.
