A photo that showed a cake from a Meijer supermarket went viral for the touching story behind it.
Lisa Aldrich shared a photo on Facebook of the cake she bought, explaining that an employee at the supermarket asked her if she could write on the cake after she had picked it out.
The employee took longer than usual to write on the cake, but Aldrich ultimately received it and thanked the employee for the work she had done.
At the self-checkout, other employees explained to Aldrich why her cake was so special.
“To my surprise, after they discussed it, one cashier put her arm on my shoulder and said ‘the girl who wrote that has Autism. Thank you for smiling and thanking her- even though she’s not supposed to write on cakes, you probably made her day,’” Lisa wrote in the Facebook post alongside the photo.
The photo quickly went viral, with several autism groups and thousands of people across the country sharing it, WXMI reported. Michigan’s Lt. Gov. Brian Calley even retweeted the photo to his Twitter account.
