Neil Diamond Forced To Cancel Tour, Has Fans In Tears Rooting For Him

Praying for Neil and his family. <3

For more than 50 years, Neil Diamond has graced the world with his incredible singing voice, stage presence and passion for songwriting. His career has inspired countless artists to pursue their dreams and he’s personally mentored a handful of America’s most beloved musicians.

Unfortunately, Neil recently announced the cancellation of the remainder of his world tour dates for a heartbreaking reason.

Neil Diamond has been a staple of American music for five decades. Over that time, he’s released more than 30 studio albums, eight live albums, 27 complication records and toured all over the globe.

His influence is unmeasured and his attitude towards his fans has always remained warm. Even with a hectic schedule and non-stop traveling, Neil made sure to keep what’s important in life at the forefront. He’s a father of four amazing children and married his manager, Katie McNeil, in 2012.

Neil told Billboard Magazine that nothing spurs his creativity more than being in love.

“There’s no better inspiration or motivation for work than being in love. It’s what you dream of as a creative person. I was able to complete this album – start it, write it and complete it — under the spell of love, and I think it shows somehow.”
Even at 76 years old, Neil keeps the torch of his passion for music burning. However, news of a major medical setback reached fans and now it’s the reason why he’s forced to stop the very thing he loves the most.

In a statement on his official website, Neil revealed that he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and, from the sound of things, his condition is deteriorating. This hasn’t forced him to quit music altogether, but he has decided to stop performing live.

Neil’s statement read:

“It is with great reluctance and disappointment that I announce my retirement from concert touring. I have been so honored to bring my shows to the public for the past 50 years.

My sincerest apologies to everyone who purchased tickets and were planning to come to the upcoming shows.”

“I plan to remain active in writing, recording and other projects for a long time to come.

My thanks go out to my loyal and devoted audiences around the world. You will always have my appreciation for your support and encouragement. This ride has been ‘so good, so good, so good’ thanks to you.”
We wish Neil and the rest of his family nothing but the best in the years to come. While it’s wonderful that he still plans on staying active in the musical realm, you can’t help but be disappointed to learn that live performances will be a thing of the past.

He will always be remembered as one of the best performers in our lifetime.

Watch Neil perform his hit song “Sweet Caroline” back in the day. They don’t make musicians like this anymore!
