Oregano Tea Recipe to Help Heal Strep Throat, Sinusitis and Infections

In a lot of parts of the world, the oregano tea has been drank as a traditional natural remedy, to prevent from a lot of diseases and ailments. One of the most important compounds in the oregano are eriocitrin, quercetin, luteolin, rosmaric acid, apigenin, luteolin-7-O-glucoside and apigenin-7-O-glucoside.

Some phytonutrients are making the oregano, they are the rosmaric acid and the thymol, which have proven to be powerful antioxidants. These two have the ability to to inhibit the oxygen damaged cells into the human body. According to the latest studies, oregano has a stronger antioxidant impact for our body, than the synthetic antioxidants we use, which are added in the processed foods we eat, the BHA (butylated bydroxyanisole) and BHT (butylated hydroxytoluene).

According to a study which was done in 2007, and was published in the International Food Journal of Science and Nutrition, the consumption of oregano tea, not only helped with the antioxidant properties, but it also lowered the bad cholesterol in our blood (LDL).

Anti-Cancer Properties

According to the studies done to see the abilities of the oregano, it has been proven that it has some anti-cancer properties. It has a very powerful compound, that can slow down the process of cancer and its growth, which also promotes apoptosis — we’re talking about phytochemical Quercetin.

A study which was published by the “Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology” on June 2008, has shown us that the extract from oregano, was able to improve the indicators of cancer, in the animals who had colon cancer which were kept in the laboratory, the researchers have said that this is due to its antioxidant properties too. Even if these findings seem very positive, they still haven’t been 100% confirmed, and haven’t passed to human trials yet.

Oregano Tea Recipe to heal strep throat, sinusitis, & infections:

  • 2 and 1/2 cups of water
  • 4-6 tablespoons of fresh leaves of oregano
  • Tea strainer
  • A tablespoon of organic raw honey

Method

Cut the leaves from the oregano, so that you can take the oil out. Put the water on heat, until it starts to boil (about 10 minutes). Add the oregano leaves inside the boiling water, and let them inside it for 5 minutes. Add the raw honey inside too and strain. Drink the tea while it is still hot, that way it will provide maximum benefits.

Oregano tea uses:

  • Head lice, flu, coughs, athlete’s foot and warts
  • Depression, headaches, swollen glands, bronchial problems
  • Sprains, ear infection, back pain, eczema and colds
  • Canker sores, E.Coli, Lyme disease, gastrointestinal disorders/colitis
  • Bloating, excess gas, urinary problems, indigestion
  • Parasites, constipation, fungus
