People Are Piercing Their Fingers Instead Of Wearing Rings And It Looks Agonizing

Just get a normal ring please!

When I was a child, I remember looking at my grandmother’s engagement ring in absolute awe. It was a 1ct diamond ring on top of a gold band encrusted with emeralds, and it was the most stunning piece of jewelry I’ve ever seen.

While I never put thought into what my future nuptials would look like, I often wondered what mt prospective rings would look like. My father gave my mother a beautiful set that interlocked the engagement ring with the wedding band, since she always preferred the traditional style compared to something more considered more flashy and modern.

No one person is alike, so society’s taste is bound to differ. It’s not unheard of for someone to tattoo a band or a small design around their ring finger instead, or forgo the jewelry all together.

But, some people are taking their physical representation of commitment to a whole new level by having their fingers pierced.

While might think your fingers are the most unusual place on your body to fit in a jewel, it’s picking up steam in becoming the hottest new trend.

In a graphic video shared by Cultura Colectiva + on their Facebook page, various people are shown getting the lower half of their digits pierced, and it’s not for the faint of heart.

The clip shows individuals getting their skin clamped before a metal rod is pushed through the skin folds. While some decide to go with either a simple bar or stud, others prefer more elaborate designs, including having their “wedding” rings embedded into their skin, it takes a full year for the piercing to heal.

After viewers watched the clip, they were keen to give their two cents on this unconventional trend. Unsurprisingly, the vast majority were against it:

“HEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLL no. I personally work with my hands for a living. I don’t need my finger skin ripped off cause of a slip,” Todd Junior wrote.

“I’m sorry if you can’t be bothered to wear a wedding ring then maybe you shouldn’t get married piercing your finger is tacky there is nothing pretty about it,” Carrie Lynn added.

“That is just DISGUSTING. Why would anyone want to pierce their hand or finger? Oh well that’s just waiting for infection, being ripped off, getting stuck on something, hey their problem, they’re ones who will be crying,” Diana Alford chimed in.

Would you consider getting a finger piercing if you were engaged?
