Did you know it?

Toothaches can cause intolerable pain. If you have a severe or constant toothache or other mouth problem, you should visit your dentist in case you are dealing with a serious dental problem that needs to be treated. Moreover, you may experience some minor toothaches and pains that can be treated at home, or at least alleviated before seeing your dentist.

Home remedies you need to try next time you are dealing with a toothache:

Clove Oil
Clove oil is an old and popular remedy. What makes it very special is the chemical eugenol in the oil, which includes anesthetic and antibacterial properties.

If you want to use this oil for toothache, soak a cotton ball in a mixture made from 2-3 drops of clove oil and ¼ teaspoon of olive oil. Place the cotton ball inside your mouth near the aching tooth and bite down to keep it in place. It is important not to sleep with the cotton in your mouth.

You can find clove oil in pharmacies and health food stores.

Cough Drops
Cough drops or lozenges often include a small amount of anesthetic. This means that they can help you get rid of minor tooth pain as well. Take one or two cough drops and suck on them, don’t chew.

Another option is to apply Vick’s VapoRub on the outside of your cheek where your tooth aches, then place a paper towel on your pillow and lie down on that side.

Rinse It Off
Food that is trapped between your teeth can be the cause of your toothache. So, you may try flossing, rinsing with mouthwash, or using interdental brushes.

Tea Bags
