Put These Bug-Repelling Mason Jars Outside and You Might Not See a Mosquito All Summer Long

I never use DEET anymore, but that doesn't mean I get eaten by mosquitos! Check out my awesome all-natural mosquito repellent trick, that looks cool and totally works.

The appearance of mosquito and other creatures comes along with the summer. There are many effective sprays which can help you to keep these pests at bay, but they have a chemical compound in their content, known as DEET, which can cause numerous health issues including allergic reactions, irritation, and interference of the nervous system.

Natural bug repellents

But the good thing is that you do not need to expose yourself to harmful and dangerous chemicals because there are natural methods which can repel insects.

Many studies proved that lemon eucalyptus essential oil is very effective in repelling mosquitoes. Also, citronella essential oil is considered as very useful because of its strong scent.

A study showed that the peel of citrus fruits like tangerines, limes, oranges, lemons, and grapefruits contain substances which can repel mosquitoes and many other insects. These citrus fruits are very effective due to its strong smell and will help you to keep the pests at bay.

Mosquito repellent mason jars

One of the most effective ways of using citrus fruits and essential oils in order to repel mosquitoes is the use of mason jars. We will show you how to make a mosquito repellent mason jar:

Needed Ingredients:

  • 1 sliced lemon
  • 1 sliced lime
  • 2 mason jars
  • 10 drops of lemon eucalyptus essential oil
  • 10 drops of citronella essential oil
  • 4 sprigs of rosemary (optional)

Directions

Add a same amount of lime and lemon slices into the jars and into each jar add 2 sprigs of rosemary. Then, pour water into the jars and add the essential oils but make sure not to mix them together. If it is needed, you can add more water.

Backyards, porches, and campfires are the best places for these jars. To activate these mosquito repellents, all you need to do is to light a candle.
